WEST OF METRO TORONTO. First opened in 1969 with forty lions, this family-owned wildlife park has grown to include over a thousand animals. The animals roam freely in large habitats, and guests drive through safari-style. The park has a very successful captive breeding program, so you'll likely see some animal youngsters along the way. In addition, there's lots of other fun stuff to see and do, including Misumu Bay Wet Play area, Jungle Playground, animal demonstrations and performances, a train tour and a lake cruise. Safari Bus tours of the animal reserves are available for an additional fee. There are two full-service restaurants, several snack carts, and two gift shops in the park.

DOWNTOWN. Since 1978, Riverdale Farm has given visitors a glimpse of life on a turn-of-the-century Ontario farm. Along with seeing goats, horses, poultry, sheep, cows, and pigs, children and adults alike will enjoy the opportunity to see farmwork done and learn firsthand how cows are milked and sheep are sheared. Folks can also watch such activities as milk churned into butter and wool spun into yarn.

SCARBOROUGH. Located about half an hour's drive from downtown Toronto, this zoo offers a lovely way to spend the day. Its 710-acre landscape has grouped the animals to the regions they come from. There are 5,000 animals located in six geographic regional areas. There are four major tropical indoor pavilions and several smaller indoor viewing areas, plus numerous outdoor exhibits. Get involved with the Toronto Zoo at your own pace on the camel ride, pony ride, zoomobile or the safari simulator or even at zoo camp.
